I wear a bowtie now...

Last July, my brother-in-law and now sister-in-law were married, in a beautiful ceremony and location in Toronto ON. Since the oldest 2 boys and Mark were all part of the wedding party, we thought it might be fun to also get a tuxedo for Rowan who was 7 months old. The day was a bit hectic, and Rowan didn't end up wearing much more than the shirt and pants of his suit, and slept so much, he didn't make it into any photos anyway. It seemed like such a waste, and I planned to have him wear it for fun on his first birthday. When the day rolled around, it didn't seem like that kind of party.  My last chance to get him into it was Christmas day, but with Ethan and Parker both in jeans, plaid shirts and their new red neck ties, it only seemed fitting to put Rowan into his jeans, tux shirt and bowtie...and it's a good thing though, because bowties are cool!

I based the layout on a Sketch by JJ Sobey done for Let's Capture these Sketches. ( JJ's son is also cool!)

It's my turn up today on the Momenta blog. This time round, I created a project re-using a cookie tin left over from Christmas. Had to put all those doggie treats somewhere! ( materials list can be found in the Momenta post).

Then I broke out more momenta goodies last night while completing challenge #5 of 8 weeks 10 Challenges over at Let's Capture These Memories. It's a scraplift of a great page by Nicole Nowosad, that you can easily find in the gallery there. ( I didn't want to post it here without her permission)

Momenta 12 x 12 Scrapbook Pad PA-2362
Momenta 12 x 12 Super Paper Pad PA-2330

It's Friday, and time for another sketch reveal at Let's Capture These Sketches! Team B ( that's my team!) is up at bat this week with a gorgeous sketch by Natalie Roy.

Stickers: Echo Park, October Afternoon, Sassafras Lass, Bo Bunny
Stamps: Imaginisce, Daisy Bucket, Memory Essentials

I stuck the Jillibean twine on with bright yellow stickles, so the trails behind the little bees really sparkle.

Take 2...

For some reason I find myself doing challenges and sketches twice these days. I'm not going to complain, it means I'm getting double the layouts done too!
This layout also uses Let's Capture These Sketches sketch #115 by Natalie Roy. Tricky tricky, LCOM owner Tink gave us Challenge #4 for the 8 Weeks 10 Challenges contest. ( you can still join!) We had to use this sketch, but it had to be a brand spankin' NEW layout.

I used some of this girly girly stuff from Crate Paper- Emma's Shoppe Collection. I totally forgot about winning this sweet collection at crop before the holidays.

Materials:
PP: Crate Paper ( Emma's Shoppe), smidgen of Pink Paislee
Washi Tape
stickers: Crate Paper, The Girls Paperie
unknown: eyelet, yarn
Lace: Love My Tapes
Resin Flower: Prima
Viva Decor Pearl and Paper pens

Die cuts: Crate Paper, October Afternoon

You may remember my 2011 layout I did for Challenge #1 of the 8 Weeks 10 Challenges contest? Well, seems I didn't have enough photos on it to meet the challenge ( Thanks Claude!). So here's the retake:

yes that is actual stitching around the photos. I even heat embossed the little square frame to turn it white ( it was red glitter). Not to take any chances, I included TWELVE photos this time ( a new record for me I think!)

Materials:
Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper
PP: MME Funday, Lily Bee Designs
Chipboard, Basic Grey, Pebbles, American Crafts

The new sketch team at Let's Capture these Sketches has it's first reveal today! The talent that is team A ( I'm on team B) shows their stuff with a fantastic sketch from Natalie Roy. Even though I'm not part of the team showing today, I couldn't resist creating with the sketch.

I can't believe I actually used rub-ons! Old Marcella by K rub-ons I've had since I started scrapping. Paper from Echo Park, and Pebbles. Prima felt and Pebbles, Authentique letters, Love My Tapes Lace, and Creative Cafe labels. ( oh and cork, mist, washi tape and some butterflies I made eons ago.)
Check out Let's capture these Memories Facebook page, and the Let's Capture These Sketches blog!
Loads of inspiration to be found!!

Double Duty

It's rare for me to create a project for two separate challenges, but this one just worked so nicely, I hope you'll forgive me? :)
Although I originally put this one together for 8 Weeks-10 Challenges contest at LCOM. (It's not too late to sign up...the prize is a 50 dollar gift card!) It fit perfectly for my own challenge over at Practical Scrappers; today's Challenge Me Tuesday Post showcases more projects featuring trends from 2011. I had also mentioned it would be great if the project had a new year's theme. Why reinvent the wheel right?

The coolest thing about it, is that I'll be comparing it to this one for years to come:
I must go see if I have pics from last year so I can make it a true tradition!
Happy Tuesday!

Masking tutorial

I'm up today on the Momenta Blog, using a Design Your Own Sticker as a mask. There's a full tutorial posted on how to create the look of this page, as well as product information.

Why is it the birthday layouts always get so many photos?

Thanks for visiting!
