I knew immediately that committing to a small creative project daily was just what I needed to get ideas flowing for my pottery (in case you were wondering, it’s the clay that has kept me from paper crafting, designing and blogging for the last 5 years or so).</p><p>The possibilities for the project are as endless as your imagination. While I was tempted at first to dive directly into a clay based project for the next 100 days, that wasn’t much of a divergence from what I was already doing. What I really needed was a push to start exploring imagery, sketching, playing with inks, paint, paper. Developing my visual vocabulary if you will. </p><p>For as little as 10-20 minutes a day, for the next 100 days, I will be working on 4.25 x 5.5 inch papers (whatever I find lurking in my stash). Using whatever media I can find on hand, I am going to play.</p><p><br /></p><p>You can follow my progress here, or on Instagram <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/CZ9Z4brOomf/?utm_medium=copy_link">https://www.instagram.com/p/CZ9Z4brOomf/?utm_medium=copy_link</a></p><p>Day 1/100</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEi1MnRGu0EMLt6bC27NPjRogmwxxkZXbb6GCNIlSCVOcJ71TG-lO0FzCuEtm4uF9FggaEz1LXkDoNDWh36x4I6TRCfpOmyWIF6GOHVUEIFPDEFp7MMMk-05AoQon0BE8ZHq2EQ_uLfbroot5-znmh-f9VB5ln6Q_U0LzsxV78jiHHcMJmQRrSFBX-6USg=s2046" style="background-color: #45818e; margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2046" data-original-width="1637" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEi1MnRGu0EMLt6bC27NPjRogmwxxkZXbb6GCNIlSCVOcJ71TG-lO0FzCuEtm4uF9FggaEz1LXkDoNDWh36x4I6TRCfpOmyWIF6GOHVUEIFPDEFp7MMMk-05AoQon0BE8ZHq2EQ_uLfbroot5-znmh-f9VB5ln6Q_U0LzsxV78jiHHcMJmQRrSFBX-6USg=w320-h400" width="320" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Mixed media on watercolour paper</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Dylusions ink, Glimmer mist, Distress Ink, Tim Holts Stamp, Pitt Pen, white grease pencil, water.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><p><span style="background-color: #76a5af;">If you are still following my blog, or are participating in the 100 day project, leave me a note!</span></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEihQB5QJ33WVxZjkVzupLqtlybRwyTZ3n_g2rTt20GCoXVq2yywP_LaEcWxOXpTbUcodnJ1j14qFzDmlBeKVkxQwhPvds9Dd2ocGdS7jkNoU9ki9Xgix0OswW7qH63TyN3uchc4FzSJVLzkc8PJJWsfjvB6zYS7nwBrbhtuCesO5Oy0hJlXgIeYG5JT9g=s131" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="71" data-original-width="131" height="71" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEihQB5QJ33WVxZjkVzupLqtlybRwyTZ3n_g2rTt20GCoXVq2yywP_LaEcWxOXpTbUcodnJ1j14qFzDmlBeKVkxQwhPvds9Dd2ocGdS7jkNoU9ki9Xgix0OswW7qH63TyN3uchc4FzSJVLzkc8PJJWsfjvB6zYS7nwBrbhtuCesO5Oy0hJlXgIeYG5JT9g" width="131" /></a></div><br /><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><div><span style="background-color: #76a5af;"><br /></span></div>Erin Morehousehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03338762711645292367noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2623680287559402291.post-66913121418704814062015-06-07T13:46:00.001-04:002015-06-07T13:46:53.042-04:00Gonna Riiide the Dinotaur twain...<div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div>My baby is a big fan of Jim Henson's Dinosaur Train show. Maybe not the best way to start a new year lol!<br />
<br />
The January challenge is based on a concept developed by Ali Edwards, where you chose a single word to carry through with you in the coming year.<br />
<br />
Sounds easy enough? Yes and no. Choosing that single word to represent your goals and wishes for the entire year can be very hard. Although the challenge itself is now closed, it's not too late to choose your own word for the next 10 months.<br />
<br />
Find out more, and see wsome great examples on the Challenge YOUrself blog <a href="http://scrap-challenge-yourself.blogspot.ca/2015/01/challenge-14-one-little-word.html" target="_blank">here</a>. <br />
<br />
My page is here. I'm not going to go into detail about my word, as it means so many different things to me, on different levels.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-hRGwcn1pMMc/VNZnOu39iQI/AAAAAAAADYw/A4BmkJEZw20/s1600/connect.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-hRGwcn1pMMc/VNZnOu39iQI/AAAAAAAADYw/A4BmkJEZw20/s1600/connect.jpg" height="400" width="400" /></a></div>
I used the same paint application technique on this one, as I did on my February challenge. Fast and easy- you just apply a thin layer of paint to a piece of cellophane, and then lay the cellophane paint down on the paper and rub it. It's easy to see where the paint will go so you can control the exact placement. It looks wild and unplanned, but with this method, there are few unwanted surprises.<br />
<br />
The hearts are made with pen and a heart template, and accented with dots made with a Viva Decor paper pen.<br />

<br />
I have never been in, or scrapbooked so many photos of myself before joining the team! I realize more and more with every challenge that having my voice in journaling on pages about my kids is great, but passing down information about who I am is also important to them figuring out who they are, and where they come from.<br />
<br />
This month's challenge is a beautiful colour challenge, with a journaling prompt. Click <a href="http://scrap-challenge-yourself.blogspot.ca/2015/02/challenge-15-color-challenge-i-am.html" target="_blank">here </a>to check it out !<br />

Funny how we have made that place a regular stop for most of our holiday traditions. Summer berries on St. Jean Baptiste Holiday, Apples in the fall, pumpkins for Halloween, and a tree for Christmas. We've certainly gotten our money's worth from the annual family passes.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://scrap-challenge-yourself.blogspot.ca/2014/12/challenge-13-traditions.html" target="_blank">This month at Scrap YOUrself </a>challenge blog, we're all about those little family traditions we all hold so dear. Stop by and have a look at the beautiful creations from the design team.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-hFZN30bEeZw/VITdVSk5eQI/AAAAAAAADXs/f59UpjpLipA/s1600/Christmas-Storytime.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-hFZN30bEeZw/VITdVSk5eQI/AAAAAAAADXs/f59UpjpLipA/s1600/Christmas-Storytime.jpg" height="400" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
We unwrap new jammies and stories Christmas Eve as do many families. Not only do the new pajamas make for nice Christmas photos that night and next morning, We love winding up the excitement of the night with some quiet time reading together before bed. I know that sooner than later, those little boys will be too big to fit on my lap, and The Gingerbread Pirates and other loved stories will be a faded memory. <br />
<br />
Take the time to scrap your present or past Christmas traditions this month, and be sure to include yourself in the photos, so those memories can be passed on.<br />

The team has once again done a great job at providing a ton of inspiration. Head over to check out the pages. we'd love to have you join us, and link up your pages! This month's prize is a Swag Bag from from Paper Issues!<br />
<br />
<br />
It's been hectic around here lately to say the least. Always something new popping up to keep us on our toes. Despite the broken collarbone Parker suffered a few weeks ago, the black swollen eye that Ethan acquired just before school photos, the challenges of (not) potty training Rowan, who wants to figure it all out on his own with the bathroom door closed, and the sheer exhaustion and test of patience that only a very mobile,very curious and very tall toddler can bring ( did I mention he can reach more than halfway up the counter, and has a thing for coffee cups?).<br />
<br />
The more crazy things get, the more I find myself being fully aware in the calm moments. Grabbing an extra hug and kiss from my ever growing 3 year old who is looking forward to being 16 so he can drive a red car with flames. Cherishing the rare quiet moments in the rocking chair when my 18 month old wakes me in the night. I'm stopping to look at the colours of the leaves on the ground, cranking up the radio and enjoying a classical piece, or an alternative classic.<br />
<br />
I'm finding the beauty in everyday.<br />

I'm tagging my friend <a href="http://createfor7.blogspot.ca/" target="_blank">Lisa Wilkinson</a> to share her creative space too. If you love seeing where others create, just follow along the blog tag for lots of inspiration.<br />
<br />
I'll be honest, I love my space, but wouldn't normally have chosen to feature it for several reasons:<br />
<br />
1. It usually always really really needs to be cleaned up. <br />
I'm pretty organized,but I'm a messy creative. When I get on a role, things will get pulled out of every direction, box, bin, cabinet and drawer. Then there is the added chaos of trying to be creative with little ones around; always stopping mid creative streak, and never truly devoting enough time to cleaning up. I should also mention that my space is off of the kids playroom, conveniently sandwiched between it,and the bathroom/laundry room, allowing for trails of boy objects, clothing and toys to find their way in.<br />
<br />
2. I have too much stuff.<br />
Not only do I love scrapbooking and paper crafts, my room houses the tools and supplies for sewing, painting, drawing, beading, polymer clay, knitting, crochet and more. I love crafting, but I also love collecting supplies and tools. I also hate to get rid of anything!<br />
I'm sure there are many crafters out there with an even greater "collection" of supplies, but putting mine out on display makes me hyper aware of how much i really do own.<br />
<br />
3. Time.<br />
I haven't been able to make the time to blog for some time now. when moments do arise, I'd rather be spending them creating something or tidying up so that I can find the counters again.<br />
<br />
Setting all that aside, I am really fortunate to have such a great space to work in, and I know that I really enjoy seeing others spaces, and organization. So here it goes:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
This view is from the laundry room door looking ahead at my main scrap area where all the paper and embellishments live. I keep current papers and stickers in baskets right on my desk, where I'll think to use them. </div>

Very shallow drawers, but perfect for Craftmates containers and 4x6 photo boxes full of baubles.</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
Over my workspace, tackle boxes and photo box storage hold felt, chipboard, brads and diecuts. I also keep a 12x12 clear box for scrap papers.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
and more punches ( there are 2 more, but you get the idea)</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-PuGx-jShZ14/VDAm4BwUOwI/AAAAAAAADV8/QwJPWDF5SS4/s1600/IMG_8461.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-PuGx-jShZ14/VDAm4BwUOwI/AAAAAAAADV8/QwJPWDF5SS4/s1600/IMG_8461.JPG" height="266" width="400" /></a></div>
Im so happy that I also have these really deep drawers ( 6 of them total)<br />
on this scrap side of the room, they hold 12 x12 paper and letter stickers hung by file folders.<br />
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-GLvNmc3u0bI/VC9ffIraw0I/AAAAAAAADUA/eHbRvNanrxE/s1600/IMG_8451.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-GLvNmc3u0bI/VC9ffIraw0I/AAAAAAAADUA/eHbRvNanrxE/s1600/IMG_8451.JPG" height="266" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
From my main scrap desk toward the laundry room door.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I have a small table with folding leaves that the kids use for crafts, or computer time. It also gets pulled out for crops with friends. There's a fridge on the right under all those magnets, that are meant to occupy my littlest, but mainly just serve as exercise for me when I pick them up several times a day off the floor.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-LN6VFTitfD0/VC9hyf2OcuI/AAAAAAAADUM/W4xSHo1UNtE/s1600/IMG_8449.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-LN6VFTitfD0/VC9hyf2OcuI/AAAAAAAADUM/W4xSHo1UNtE/s1600/IMG_8449.jpg" height="400" width="266" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The buckets come off the rail easily when it's time for crafts. I keep crayons, pencil crayons and markers here, as well as glue sticks, scissors and rulers. above, rolls of washi tape and ribbon hang from dollarstore pant hangers. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
On the same wall as the fridge is a deeper counter and cabinets where I keep all my "wet" media such as stamps,inks, paint and messy fun stuff. I use Ikea trays and bins for storage, as well as empty Chinese food take out containers.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-hGtBd9N4e1s/VC9kmkNtJtI/AAAAAAAADVA/UontkSLq2h8/s1600/IMG_8441.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-hGtBd9N4e1s/VC9kmkNtJtI/AAAAAAAADVA/UontkSLq2h8/s1600/IMG_8441.JPG" height="266" width="400" /></a></div>
Since I have very little wall space, I use the inside of the upper cabinet doors to keep colour charts and such.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ihjhbQ8E4PU/VC9knGxOHeI/AAAAAAAADVI/WEmPbfM1mkw/s1600/IMG_8442.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ihjhbQ8E4PU/VC9knGxOHeI/AAAAAAAADVI/WEmPbfM1mkw/s1600/IMG_8442.JPG" height="266" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Polymer and cling stamps live in 8.5x11 clam shell packs, where they are as easily accessible for mixed media as they are for cards and pages.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-qwwR6z75nz4/VC9ntnpAoHI/AAAAAAAADVk/FXo_HrikCDk/s1600/IMG_8444.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-qwwR6z75nz4/VC9ntnpAoHI/AAAAAAAADVk/FXo_HrikCDk/s1600/IMG_8444.JPG" height="265" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I kept a zone of drawers under my manual die cut machine to house dies (thick and thin) as well as embossing folders, and my trimmer. I keep it tucked away, and use it right in the drawer. This protects curious little hands, and catches all my little scraps.<br />
<br />
Since I think i've only just skimmed the surface when it comes to showing how I store many of my things, Im thinking I might do another post targeting specific storage solutions. I know I'm still trying to find a way to store certain things more efficiently, and solutions really depend on the space you have and how you work. I'm curious to know what items you are trying to find solutions for?<br />
<br />
...and just in case you have cleanliness envy, this is how it all looked only a couple of hours after the photos were taken :<br />

Luckily, I got to be the parent on duty for my 3 year old's first day at preschool. At one point I stepped out in the hallway with him to put something in his bag, only to see my 5 year old seated in his classroom across the hall, and then turn and bump into my 7 year old who was on his way to the Gym. You could feel the excitement in the air; kids with new shoes and new books, meeting their new teachers and classmates in bright fresh classrooms. All at once, new routines as well as old familiar ones.<br />
<br />
Every year, it surprises us how the two small Maple trees at the end of the parking lot always insist on starting to turn red before any others in our neighborhood. Its almost as if they have some duty, being connected to the school, to signal the official start of fall and of the new school year.<br />
<br />
This week I had my first Salted Caramel Mocha of the season, and keep testing the weather by repeatedly putting on and removing a hoodie. Soon it will be cool enough that a sweater will be more of a necessity than wishful thinking, and then I'll know that my favorite season is well under way.<br />
<br />
This month at <a href="http://scrap-challenge-yourself.blogspot.ca/" target="_blank">Challenge YOUrself </a>the challenge is to scrap a page about our favorite thing about fall. Since I have so many things I love about this time of year, I focused on the people I love sharing them with. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-hIX1vDbicmE/VAvLKtv8CDI/AAAAAAAADTo/7DPV8A5fnA4/s1600/Fall-Fun.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-hIX1vDbicmE/VAvLKtv8CDI/AAAAAAAADTo/7DPV8A5fnA4/s1600/Fall-Fun.jpg" height="400" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
You can join the challenge this month by scrapping about your favorite thing about Autumn, and linking your project upon the blog. I hear there is a very cool prize this month for one lucky participant ;)<br />

If you haven't already checked out the blog, now is a great time to jump in. Every month, a new challenge is issued, and the key is to always make sure YOU are featured in the photo; something many of us neglect to do. To make things even more interesting this month, we were asked to scrap our ages. I wasn't bothered much to show my age, and found everyone's responses to the assignment to be so very interesting. I don't have a problem being thirty-eight, and I don't think I'll have any issues turning39 or 40. As long as I can keep doing what I love,with those I love, it's just a number.<br />

Nothing like a challenge to get something to post on the blog. This month's challenge at <a href="http://scrap-challenge-yourself.blogspot.ca/" target="_blank">Challenge YOUrself </a>is a colour challenge. Fun, fresh summer hues, and you'll be surprised to see how many different direction the design team took them in.<br />
<br />
Here's my page:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-W0QuFkdmCcU/U7oFBkYBEfI/AAAAAAAADR8/rzc4jRID3v0/s1600/The-Wait.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-W0QuFkdmCcU/U7oFBkYBEfI/AAAAAAAADR8/rzc4jRID3v0/s1600/The-Wait.jpg" height="400" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I had fun trying out some techniques on this one. I used a combination of thin layers of gesso and Golden absorbant ground as a base, before adding stencilled Gelatos, splashes of watercolour and spray ink as well as a few stamps.<br />
<br />
I couldn't resist topping it off with some iRESISTables sprays and some <a href="http://girlpaperscissors.blogspot.ca/2014/06/melting-things.html" target="_blank">funky melted thingies</a>.<br />
<br />

<br />
It's not very often that I break out anything glittery to use on my pages. When I do though, I tend to go all out! Today's page is all about using up some Pebbles chipboard shapes that I've been hoarding for a few years now ( probably close to 6!). I added some new wood flower buttons and papers from the newer scrap pile to keep it fresh.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-1haGyyGDOq8/U6ziTdBkaII/AAAAAAAADRs/ZVth3b3aymw/s1600/leprechaun.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-1haGyyGDOq8/U6ziTdBkaII/AAAAAAAADRs/ZVth3b3aymw/s1600/leprechaun.jpg" height="400" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
...thank goodness for cork and wood grain; without them I might have really gotten carried away (*wink*) I think they really help to balance out all that sparkle and colour.<br />
<br />
materials:<br />
Cardstock: American Crafts (woodgrain)<br />
pp: Glitz Design, Doodlebug Design Inc.<br />
Diecuts: Simple Stories, Impression Obsession ( cork bunny)<br />
Letters: American Crafts<br />
buttons: Maya Road<br />
Cork: Little Yellow Bicycle, Canvas Corp<br />
Tim Holtz Distress Stain<br />
<br />
Don't forget to leave comments along the way for the chance to win some prizes!<br />

It's a first layout today for me for the Challenge YOUrself Blog. I'm happy to be working on design team projetcs again, and this time with a great group of ladies, and with a great premise. All challenges must include a picture of you ( or in this case ME!)<br />
<br />
It's about time I do something about not being part of the history and memories I'm recording.<br />
<br />
Challenge #7 for June is to scrap a photo of you and a man in your life. ( any male you choose- even your pet gerbil as long as he's a he).<br />
<br />
We are being Sponsored by <a href="http://www.paperissues.com/" target="_blank">Paper Issues </a>with a great prize- head over to the <a href="http://scrap-challenge-yourself.blogspot.ca/2014/06/challenge-7-oh-boy.html" target="_blank">Challenge YOUrself</a> blog for details!<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Maybe it's my urge to start painting on canvas again, or maybe it's because I'm having a blast with new products like irRESISTible dimensional sprays, and my funky new<a href="http://girlpaperscissors.blogspot.ca/2014/06/melting-things.html" target="_blank"> DIY enamel accents</a>, but more and more of my projects lately are using paints, inks and mixed media. Right now, I'm having fun with washes of colour. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This page uses Staz On ink and Prima Marketing Stamps, </div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Clear Embossing powder and Top Boss embossing ink, with Inkadinkadoo stamps to create a soft resist beneath the colour washes.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-pdb5yXrmFf0/U4_zTi06geI/AAAAAAAADQs/fj__AyBhH6M/s1600/Chillin-detail.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-pdb5yXrmFf0/U4_zTi06geI/AAAAAAAADQs/fj__AyBhH6M/s1600/Chillin-detail.jpg" height="320" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I used Dr. Martin's India Ink combined with Dylusions Spray ink, diluted with water and applied with a brush. </div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br />
I finished off with splatters of iRESISTible spray, Dylusions and some enamel accents.</div>

However, since I already had all the materials on hand, I thought I'd better try making some of my own enamel dots- à la Pinterest.<br />
<br />
Only I didn't have <i>exactly</i> what I needed on hand...<br />
<br />
Of the million things you will find to make enamel dots from when you do a search on Pinterest- mine does not seem to be listed. You see perler beads seem to work fine, and what I had were just really big versions of perler beads (My First Hama Maxi Beads). I liked the idea of really big fun dots, so I decided to give it a go.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/--d6jQapP72g/U46Sdk_RRTI/AAAAAAAADO0/kKyQm9NJ2sE/s1600/IMG_8093.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/--d6jQapP72g/U46Sdk_RRTI/AAAAAAAADO0/kKyQm9NJ2sE/s1600/IMG_8093.jpg" height="640" width="480" /></a></div>
So at 375 degrees ( Farenheit) on a foil lined cookie sheet, I baked my beads... and baked them..and baked them. They just didn't want to close up in the centers. ( photo above shows unbaked in my hand, and probably 20 minutes baked on the cookie sheet). I returned them to the hot oven and checked every 5 minutes or so until they resembled smooth Life Saver candies.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-4BWkLiybp-k/U46SerkogOI/AAAAAAAADO8/jIyAqkR-P-g/s1600/IMG_8096.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-4BWkLiybp-k/U46SerkogOI/AAAAAAAADO8/jIyAqkR-P-g/s1600/IMG_8096.jpg" height="640" width="480" /></a></div>
At first I was feeling like a Pinterest failure, but I realized how awesome these cute little rings would be on my pages.<br />
<br />
Then I played around with a medium sized bead I found at Michaels made by Creatology that was labeled as a pony bead, but just looked like a medium straight sided perler bead. **( This is also where I discovered that foil is not the best choice for baking, as the beads were hard to remove).<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-d9v7LM6PXZ0/U46SgWLIerI/AAAAAAAADPU/lvzlBXUiHz8/s1600/IMG_8461.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-d9v7LM6PXZ0/U46SgWLIerI/AAAAAAAADPU/lvzlBXUiHz8/s1600/IMG_8461.JPG" height="640" width="480" /></a></div>
These made rings as well, but smaller thinner ones. ( baked at 375 for approx 15 minutes).<br />
<br />
Then of course I made a ton of tiny beads from real perler beads this time using an old heat resistant splat mat in lieu of foil.<br />
<br />
...then I discovered I could place a small perler inside the center of the medium bead and make duo tone dots!!<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-qcwgZ6xUaV0/U46aZtpPzLI/AAAAAAAADPo/wrJnKYsZE58/s1600/IMG_8493.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-qcwgZ6xUaV0/U46aZtpPzLI/AAAAAAAADPo/wrJnKYsZE58/s1600/IMG_8493.JPG" height="400" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here's a little breakdown of the sizes achieved from each bead:</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-YMiehUBjh4c/U46SfhHx8AI/AAAAAAAADPM/H_e-28Sj_10/s1600/IMG_8444.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-YMiehUBjh4c/U46SfhHx8AI/AAAAAAAADPM/H_e-28Sj_10/s1600/IMG_8444.JPG" height="300" width="400" /> </a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I've also read tips that you can cut the beads in half to get yet another size variation.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-sDnb4mFoi_8/U46aZfC5myI/AAAAAAAADPk/GbMCKp5IyBw/s1600/IMG_8492.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-sDnb4mFoi_8/U46aZfC5myI/AAAAAAAADPk/GbMCKp5IyBw/s1600/IMG_8492.JPG" height="400" width="400" /></a><br />
<br />
I'm all set now, and have already used these on several projects. Unfortunately my kids might have to find a new favorite craft since I've acquired their supplies!<br />

<br />
Although the washi tape and goodies made with my Silhouette Cameo are new ( arrows and "Awesome"), the chipboard arrow and circle have probably been in my collection for at least 6 years now, the Queen & co adhesive border, the brads, and the red background paper are all things that normally would never have seen the light of my scraproom. Its such a great feeling to use stuff you've forgotten you had, or things that might have lost their novelty. Paired with some trendier things, old becomes new again.<br />

I've really been digging into my stash lately, trying to incorporate some older supplies in with newer, and I'm loving the challenge. This page is more about using some brand new things BEFORE they get old lol. and it's about using tools and embellishments I may have overlooked for some time.<br />

Like those stickers and transparencies...and it's been awhile since I used that twine...(oh and I may just have started hiding bunnies on all my pages again :) leave me a comment if you find him!)<br />

No theme this time, so I just did a bit of digging for some very old product ( ok I didn't have to dig very much). Couple the blog hop with some of the daily product challenges from <a href="http://mojohunting.blogspot.ca/" target="_blank">Mojo Hunting</a>, and I came up with a page that is a perfect mix of old and new. The die cut paper with the animals is ancient Creative Imaginations, but I still love it, and had to use it somehow.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ZXbmzYadmHw/Uyri_4LrMqI/AAAAAAAADLw/UHqiRIRF5FI/s1600/Rowan.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ZXbmzYadmHw/Uyri_4LrMqI/AAAAAAAADLw/UHqiRIRF5FI/s1600/Rowan.jpg" height="400" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
To keep the page fresh and up to date, I used some washi tape that worked well with the colours and patterns of the paper, and new Beanboard Alphas from Jillibean Soup. I paired them with matching yellow Wise Words stickers- I love, love, love yellow alphas, and this shade of yellow is my favorite. I love the look of the new wooden buttons with enamel centers, but didn't have any on hand, so I made my own using wood and plastic buttons and Viva Decor pens. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-FtFWgADLJNM/UyrkM0gYVfI/AAAAAAAADL4/Dd5yn5dGOqY/s1600/Rowan-Detail.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-FtFWgADLJNM/UyrkM0gYVfI/AAAAAAAADL4/Dd5yn5dGOqY/s1600/Rowan-Detail.jpg" height="261" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper<br />
PP: Creative Imaginations<br />
Letters/font: Jillibean Soup, Echo Park<br />
Trim: Green Tara, Queen and Co.<br />
Die cuts: Creative Imaginations, Silhouette ( Jillibean Soup)<br />
Buttons: October Afternoon, pebbles ( altered with Viva Decor Pens)<br />
Washi Tape<br />
Viva Decor Pearl and Paper pens<br />
<br />
Since this is a scrap your stash hop, I'll be giving away a small selection of product from my own stash to a lucky commenter. <br />

The problem is, she needs a gentle reminder every now and again of what she has, and needs a nudge to use it. While she was searching for an app, or a blog that gave daily product challenges, I remembered a blog template that I created back in 2010, and never made public. Mojo Hunting was initially supposed to be filled with funky challenges, and ideas to help when you just don't know where to begin anymore...well now it's been brought back to life, but on a <i>very</i> simple scale. Every day I give a different item to use on a page. <br />
<br />
Since I'm not at the point anymore where I can complete a project a day, I've combined the first few items in a page.<br />

<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I didn't even think I owned any older Valentine paper when I started out on this challenge. Turns out I have a substantial selection in addition to the new papers I bought this year.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
What I also have a ton of are hearts! Felt, chipboard, wood, satin, glitter, pins, buttons etc. I mean I use hearts on my pages, but with 4 boys, I tend to grab more stars and circles before the hearts get used- especially the pink glittery ones!</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Materials: </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Pp: Fancy Pants Design, Echo Park</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Chipboard and felt hearts: American Crafts</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Satin and plastic heart: Dollarama </div>

<div style="text-align: left;">
Buttons: Doodlebug Design Inc.</div>

<div style="text-align: left;">
Stickers: Pink Paislee, October Afternoon</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Then I grabbed the new papers I had from Crate Paper's collection Love Notes. To make another Valentines day layout. I decided to use up some more of the hearts, some brads , and Jillibean Soup Die cuts (Arrows) that I made with my Silhouette.</div>

I had been thinking about getting one for almost 2 years, but since I already have a Cricut Expression collecting dust, I just couldn't justify the expense. I'm not sure why I never really clicked with my Cricut. I found finding cuts that I wanted long, and difficult, even with all my cartridges linked to my Gypsy, I still struggled. Hopefully I can find a good home for the Cricut, and all my cartridges, because after having the Cameo less than a month, I am hooked, and loving it!<br />
<br />
Here's a layout I finished last night using a photo from our annual Christmas Eve jammie photo shoot. I love seeing the boys so full of excitement that they can hardly sit still, and the resulting photos are usually hilarious. This one though is just sweet, capturing all of their little personalities.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-cDq19YZSdq4/UuE1FVkalMI/AAAAAAAADJc/mv0uI2cMgfg/s1600/Christmas-Love.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-cDq19YZSdq4/UuE1FVkalMI/AAAAAAAADJc/mv0uI2cMgfg/s1600/Christmas-Love.jpg" height="396" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I used a Scalloped circle cut file, and wrapped it with green twine from the Twinery for dimension. Papers from Alison Kreft Designs "It's Christmas" collection and Studio Calico.A bit of washi tape, and wood shapes from Studio Calico coloured with Tim Holtz Distress Stain( I especially love the Tarnished Brass on the splatter and stars).<br />
<br />
Just wondering how many of you own cutting machines, and how often you use them? Any tips or fun techniques for the Cameo?<br />
<br />Erin Morehousehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03338762711645292367noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2623680287559402291.post-17885440279021526722014-01-19T22:55:00.001-05:002014-01-19T22:55:16.662-05:00Digging In.<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
We're still in the post holiday purge/clean and organize trend that
seems to happen every New Year.at my house. I'm slowly starting to go through my craft
supplies, and realized there's a ton of good stuff that's been waiting
for me to get back into creating. I've found just a "few" paper collections
that I bought during my pregnancy when I had little energy to scrap, and some that I bought after the baby was born, when there was no time. Now I've got just a bit of time, a bit of energy, and a whole lot of stuff!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Materials:<br />
Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper <br />
PP: Studio Calico ( Memoir)<br />
Felt: Prima Marketing<br />
Wood: Studio Calico<br />
Canvas Stickers: My Little Yellow Bicycle<br />
( Coloured with Tim Holtz Distress Markers)<br />
Letter Stickers: October Afternoon, Basic Grey<br />
Washi Tape<br />
Silhouette Cameo- Custom design, and "Heart" by Amy Tangerine for American Crafts.<br />
<br />
I'm still having fun experimenting with my Cameo. I decided to design the funky scalloped rectangle I used over top of the scalloped piece of Bazzill cardstock (which I almost purged because I thought I'd never use...then my friends challenged me to use at least 3 pre-cut cardstock pieces). One down 2 to go!<br />

<span style="font-family: inherit;">I haven't had loads of time to scrap lately, and seem to be simply accumulating more and more product without getting to use it. Digging into my stash simply meant using some products like India inks that have been sitting in the drawer for ages, and also diving into a pile of already printed photos that never made it onto a page. </span><br />

It took a silly package of bakers twine in the deal bin at Target to make me do both...<br />
<br />
A page I did using Sue Sykes Sketch for Canadian Scrapbooker December <a href="http://www.canadianscrapbooker.ca/sketchy/" target="_blank">Sketchy Challenge</a>.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-sNWGaflYH-w/UqU-WeIqrpI/AAAAAAAADH4/0icFkpB7Bew/s1600/jammies-and-Christmas-stories.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="397" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-sNWGaflYH-w/UqU-WeIqrpI/AAAAAAAADH4/0icFkpB7Bew/s400/jammies-and-Christmas-stories.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
See that Gingerbread man? well, when he was laying in the bin at Target, he had a bunch of red and white bakers twine wrapped around his middle. I had absolutely no need for anymore twine, but couldnt resist his little face, and knew I could use him somehow. His sweater and boots were added out of necessity to cover packaging information, but they were the perfect addition to tie him in with the "ugly christmas sweater" feel of the ribbon strips on the left.<br />
<br />
Not only did I get part of last year's Christmas events scrapped, I also found a bit of Christmas spirit!<br />
