Let's Capture These Sketches #130

There's another great sketch up this week on Let's Capture These Sketches by Natalie Roy... The team pages this week are truly stunning! Head over to the sketch blog to check them out.

My truly wonderful husband, playing on his phone while I'm in labor with our second son. ( I had enough of a sense of humor left at the time to take a picture of him).

"Who are YOU?" said the Caterpillar...

I'm really quite a serious person...really I am. The voice of reason, the responsible one. The girl who likes all her glasses and mugs in the cupboard to match, and line up just so...who likes all her clothes hanging in her closet to face the same direction (they don't always, but I LIKE them to).
A girl who's electives in her last year of High School were advanced Chemistry and Art, who always made honor roll yet was sent to the principal's office on several occasions for dress code infractions, and caught skipping class on numerous occasions.

The art student who avoided taking herself too seriously just in case someone else might try to do the same.

Being creative has always been a huge part of who I am. I've always known there was no getting away from it, and really, I never wanted to. Sure I could have studied to be an engineer like dad wanted me to. I did end up working in telecommunications, and managing large customer accounts. I was the interface with the customer, representing teams of engineers, installers and technicians (all this after getting my Bachelors degree in Art History and Studio Art of course).

I have never felt comfortable calling myself an artist.
But I am.
I am all those things, and definitely goofy...

and to hold it all together...

Spring has Sprung!

Well I'm sure it feels springlike somewhere in the world. We have been on a weather rollercoaster here,  going from t-shirt and sandals one day, to a hat and scarf, or rainboots and umbrella. We may just skip spring altogether, and head from the next snow storm straight into a summer heat wave...I'll keep you posted.

The kids are learning all about Spring and creepy crawlies at preschool right now. I love the days I get to be the duty parent and really see what they are up to ( and take pictures of course).  I haven't requested permission from other parents to post these photos, so I have had to  blurred their sweet little faces and names.

This whole page came together from sorting through my scrap bin. I set aside these bits as I was purging and sorting, just because they all appealed to me at the time. when I checked out the little pile I had made when it was all done, I realized they could all easily fit on a page somehow.

This page is up on Practical Scrappers blog for our Challenge Me Tuesday feature today. The challenge was to somehow use leaves on your project. Check out this week's challenge at the end of the post.

Happy Tuesday!

Whimsy on steroids

It seems I have a little problem with bright saturated colours lately, oh and with mists and doodling, and generally not being afraid to leave my mark. Did I also mention that I'm not afraid to slap any old random thing onto a page lately? I guess there is one rule...it has to make me smile.

This page is where I fell in love with the Dylusions sprays, and decided I needed every colour available. ( oh and of course I also decided I needed more stencils too).
Sample Page  of Echo Park featuring Candi, Dylusions

I completed this page for our monthly feature of Frugal Finds at Practical Scrappers. The feature was about Bobby pins ( hair pins). I figured since I had already created the canvas butterflies, I may as well go all out, and create a page they could live on.

Armed with some patterns from Queen and Company, new washi tape, and a black Sharpie pen, I created this fun page.

With cuteness this concentrated, I probably shouldn't be posting more than one page at a time should I? I'm sure I'll be balancing it all out with some neutrals again shortly.

PSA Essentials and Momenta Blog Hop

Hi everyone! Today Momenta has teamed up with PSA Essentials for a fun little blog hop. If you're already hopping, you should have arrived from Regina Mangum's blog . If you haven't started the hop and would like to,  you should begin here.  There are 2 great prizes up for grabs if you leave a comment on each blog along the way.
PSA Essentials is giving away 2 Peel & Stick stamp sets & 1 PSA Stamper ( estimated retail value 55$). Momenta will be giving away a set of vacation themed goodies pictured below (estimated retail value 35$)

So what do you get when you pair super easy to PSA stamps with fun Momenta products? An Easter layout it seems!

I mixed papers from Let's Party 12x12 Cardstock  Paper Pad (PA-2370) and Kaleidoscope Pyramid Paper Pad (PA-2383), backed with cream cardstock and trimmed in black, both from Black and White 12x12 Cardstock Pad ( PA-2390). PSA Essentials Stamps featured are from PSA-Country Home, and PSA- Topiary. The little sheep was fun to stamp repeatedly thanks to the spring loaded stamp body, and changing the stamps out was really easy!

Other Momenta Product used:
RO-1854 Bunnies 4x8 Rub-Ons
PK-2147 12x12 Scrapbook Pad
ST-2037  Green Apple Puffy Glitter Stickers
ST-5160 Puffy Border Stickers-Let's Party

Thanks for visiting! You should be on your way to Jeanne Streiff's blog now!

Happy Hopping!

In the Blink of an Eye...

...that's how quickly it seems It took me to go from being an expectant first time mom sitting back relaxing on a summer's day to being a mom of 3 boys, trying hard to contain them all for a quick group shot during a fun but chaotic outing.

Can you tell how much I'm loving the new MME papers?

Going "Random" and completely controlled

Sometimes I just need to be in control of things, where things are mostly orderly, organized and logical:

Sometimes I let loose, and do pages that have things randomly slapped on them,  scribbles, ink and bits and pieces. It just makes good for the mojo to really play and have fun sometimes.

Based on sketch #124 by Natalie Roy for LCOM. Find the sketch and other examples from the team here

Funny how sometimes I feel like I'm doing the same thing over and over again, but when I look back over my pages, I'm shocked to see such contrast of style.

Do you ever do anything to shake things up?
