Practical Scrappers Link with Love Blog Hop

Welcome to the Practical Scrappers "Linking with Love" Blog Hop!  We believe it is important to always give credit when it is due to another crafter.  For this unique hop all of our design team members used the same inspiration piece to create their project.  Each of them will make an example of themselves as to how to properly "Link with Love" and credit the inspiration.  We'll be running the hop thru Noon EST on Sunday - so you have plenty of time to get thru it!

Liz Qualman created this beautiful layout and we have all used it for inspiration.  Each of us will tell what part we took our inspiration from.  The whole hop will culminate at Liz's blog where she'll provide us with a new sketch for inspiration.

Many of the designers are providing prizes at their stop and Practical Scrappers is providing a prize for one person who becomes a follower at each stop (for all the details head over to Practical Scrappers).

You should be arriving from: Kerri Yarus' blog
Your next stop is Christa Uttley's blog

Pablo Picasso is credited with this quote " good artists borrow, great artists steal".
Inspiration comes from everywhere. Sometimes, it gets all mashed up with other forms of inspiration in your head, and when it comes out in a physical form, it has been changed so much, or internalized in a way that the idea(s) are now your own. when this happens, it is difficult to give credit to the original sources of ideas. There are times however, that we all directly take, or "borrow" ideas in order to create our work, and in this case, it is so important to give credit to the original artist.

My inspiration for the following layout was probably a million little things subconsciously, but 2 sources were obvious.  I loved the contrast of the white background on Liz Qualman 's layout (above) with the brightly coloured patterned circles she used to frame her page. I  also drew from my favorite Starbucks coffee mugs, one of which was in my hand, and on my desk as I worked.

Materials:

So next time you find yourself borrowing ideas, remember to link back to the original source if possible, whether it's a sketch, an ad, something you saw on Pinterest, or on another blog. Check out the Link with Love initiative for more food for thought.

What a fun page Erin! I love how you layered all of the circles on your page instead of the borders and the coffee mug colors are brilliant.

I appreciate what a well-written post this is, Erin! Your coffee mug inspiration combined with Liz's layout yielded a wonderfully funky layout - love those circles going into the layout instead of on the periphery!
